EVERY ONE ON THE PLANET PRESENTLY DOESNT UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER AT THE SAME TIME…..I BELIEVE WHEN GOD RETURNS US TOGETHER IT WILL MEAN THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND ALL LANGUAGES ON THE PLANET UNTIL THERES 1 LANGUAGE WORLDWIDE…I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT HEY!!
I have prayed about it and prayed about it. I've asked Him to help me with believing and doing it or if it's not for me to keep me from it. I like this teaching this video helped me a lot. I've seen and heard so many sermons going with and against tongues that I just don't know. I read the Word and have my own understanding but my pastor at my church doesn't believe it relates to us now and my other bibme study pastor believes tongues is the initial sign anD that all must speak. I've read scripture that says ask and you will receive, if u want a spiritual gift to ask for it. But also I know that we can't chose gifts. …. I just pray that I get what I need and that I glorify the Lord in all my days. I don't want to pray for things I want to pray in Thanksgiving and in love. I have the Holy Spirit and that's a fact, I'm a new creation. No human way can make the renewal of the mind as I have without the Helper. I just don't speak in tongues. I will keep seeking and what happens in my life is truly in His hands. Lord, your will be done, in me.

Praying in the spirit builds faith
Good afternoon! I've been searching for the bible version Dr. Myles Munroe used- Can anyone help me. Can you show me which version of the Bible he used? I would appreciate it.
"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."
Tongues were given for praying (communication), singing, worshipping GOD through our spirit.
John 4:24 KJV — God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." 1 Corinthians 14:14-15
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth.
This is God's preferred form of worship, HIS requirement.
It would behoove you to do all you can to receive from Him this form of worship.
"…the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." Acts 5:32
Question 1: Does every believer have to speak in tongues?
The answer to this question is found in John 3:8:
Mark 16:17 KJV — And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou HEAREST the SOUND thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: SO IS EVERY ONE that is BORN OF THE SPIRIT." John 3:8
So EVERYONE is born the same way, no one would be exempt, not even the mother of Jesus. Acts 1:13-14
After Jesus said you MUST be born of the water and of the Spirit in John 3:3, 5, He further explains that EVERYONE is born of the Spirit the same way. If everyone is born the same way it is then necessary to find out how the original believers were filled with, or born of, the Spirit; everyone would need to come through that same way.
Acts 2:4 gives us that early account.
"And they were ALL filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Included in this experience was Mary, the mother of Jesus, all of the original 11 disciples, and those who continued believing after the crucifixtion, burial and subsequent resurrection, about 120 souls out of the thousands that He fed, healed, and only followed Him while He lived. Just a reminder of how God saved only Noah's family (1 Peter 3:20-21); God has no problem saving 8 souls, if that's all there will be out of the millions who will sincerely follow Him. Thankfully, we learn that multitudes in Revelations, over the thousands of years, had, and will, turn to Christ.
It is important to mention after this, Peter, who was given the keys to the kingdom in Matt. 16:19, was the one who used those keys, opening the doors to the Church:
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
The narrative continues: "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized…
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine…
And THE LORD ADDED to THE CHURCH daily such as should be saved." Acts 2:41-42, 47
So clearly this born again experience of the water and of the Spirit was the fulfillment of the Lord's requirements, saying you MUST BE born of the water and of the Spirit.
Born of the water = baptized in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the forgiveness of sins.
Born of the Spirit = receiving the Holy Spirit, with evidence to be a witness to the not yet believing.
"Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not…"
1 Corinthians 14:22
As long as there are unbelievers there will be a need for the believer to receive the Holy Spirit speaking with tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as a sign witness to the unbeliever.
Did this phenomenon continue throughout the building of the Church till now? Yes. As the word teaches this principle:
"In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." 2 Corinthians 13:1
So let's find 2 or 3 other scriptures that testify to this truth.
Acts 10:44-48 accounts Gentiles rebirth of water and Spirit:
"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Acts 19:1-6 accounts believers who had not been properly baptized, who had to be baptized again properly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and received the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance.
The Apostle Paul testifies of his speaking in tongues, although his rebirth of water and Spirit is not detailed in Acts 9:17-18. We later learn from his teachings he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and spoke with tongues. Rom. 6:3; 1 Cor. 14:18
So we do have enough examples and biblical witnesses to draw the conclusion that Jesus' statement that with everyone there would be the sound of the believer being born of the Spirit, that can be witnessed by seeing and hearing the birth of a newborn believer being born of the Spirit of Christ.
2. If you were born again, is the proof of that conversion speaking in tongues?
The answer to that question would require that we find scripture that uses speaking in tongues as proof of one being filled with the Holy Ghost or born of the Spirit, which is a part of the born again process.
Acts 10:44-48 gives such an account:
"While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 FOR they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…"
Here we find that the Jews knew the Gentiles were filled with the Holy Ghost because they heard the Gentiles speaking in tongues the same way they did.
So yes, the evidence was, and still is, the witness of seeing and hearing. (Please refer to my answer of Question 1 for the full explanation).
Question 3:
Is it required of the Bible that we speak in tongues?
Jesus' requirement that one MUST be born again of the water and of the Spirit makes being born of the Spirit a requirement. Since speaking in tongues is the evidence of having received the Holy Ghost, then yes, it would be a requirement. But why?
The purpose is a spiritual communication with God, with words we cannot utter; we wouldn't know how to express in our limited human vocabulary. Rom. 1:26; 1 Cor. 14:2…
And remember this:
"…the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
Question 4:
If one does not speak with tongues, does that mean they would be lost?
This answer would coincide with Questions 2 and 3, as Jesus made being born again of the water and of the Spirit a requirement.

If you have doubts concerning this spirit breathed teaching, you should just speak to the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to you as you read your Bible to understand more on speaking in tongues. I can assure you though, that praying/speaking in tongues benefits you as a believer in having a closer, more intimate r/ship with Abba cause we are communicating directly from His spirit to ours. Read Mark 16: 16-20. Every believer has the potential to speak in tongues. They only need to have the same faith to be saved as to receive tongues. You receive tongues when you receive Christ. Tongues are a sign to the unbeliever so if you don't believe in tongues it is a sign to you, then the Bible says you are an unbeliever. Tongues brings revelation, understanding and clarity because as you speak to God in tongues, He speaks back to you! I am convinced that if Paul was the greatest example of power with greater works and the reason is because of 1 Corinthians 14:18 I speak in tongues more than ye all! Holy Spirit is God's spirit and tongue is the evidence of the endowment power which drives the new creation! Read Acts 2:1-8. Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is what took place and changed the lives of the disciples and every one after. Read the Acts if the Apostles.
