Ravi was was a mentor who I continually looked to as a Saint and above reproach. As I looked at his life in comparison to my own and saw how miserably I was failing the witness of Christ to others. When I learned of Ravi's dual life and sin I was offended and very upset. But then in the midst of all my judging the Spirit spoke to me very clearly and showed me the truth that we all fail and come short of the glory of God and the fact that Ravi's sin was no different then that of David or any of the other saints who constantly battled with sin. After considering this fact I once again was able to receive Ravi's teaching only now I know that he is like me: a man saved by grace susceptible to all the same sins and temptations that I am.
It's so important that we don't base our faith off of a teacher, apologist, pastors etc. man will fail you. Base your faith on Jesus Christ he will never fail you.

This revelation about Ravi is indeed heartbreaking as it was also with the Jimmy Swaggart scandal in the 1980s. It seems worse when we put public figures on a pedestal expecting a higher level of integrity or even near-perfection. Being human, we are all susceptible to failure at some point in life, but that still doesn't diminish the disappointment by much. The Bible says in 1st Peter 5:8, "The Devil walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour", and therefore also much more spiritually destructive to the believers in taking down the leadership.
Thank you so much. This is a difficult and unsettling topic but I have never seen your dad live or on a show. I read a few of his books over the years, a couple exhaustive, and I was glad to watch the show. What a humble and charming person. I find your ministry and show helpful, there are so many topics and questions thrown at us in this culture. Yes everyone is vulnerable to sin and sexual sin but not everyone is a predator! If what is being said about R.Z. is true then he's a serial manipulator, adulterer, and rapist. I think God has judged him as such but IDK!
Thank you Sean and Josh for such authentic, heart warming discussion . You are right, the Lord is warning all of us. If it can happen to Ravi, we are all vulnerable before the temptation of sexual sins. This surely serves a warning to me.
As a man wanting God in my life in the name of Jesus, I've struggled with lust and connected behaviors, from promiscuity to the abuse of pornography. I was tied up and molested by a female sibling when I was about 6 years old, and then became privvy to pornography at around 15 that was brought into the family home by way of a step father (who molested my older sister, younger; who took advantage of my mom who was struggling to raise 4 children after leaving my violently abusive father.. The 1-2 punch of this perversity I suffered was overwhelming ,detrimental, and causative to a perverted sexual nature, only recently being able to rise above it thanks to Christ as I work with a therapist who specializes In ptsd and sexual trauma to help me rise above violence, neglect, addiction …guilt, shame, regret.
Many pastors have fallen by the wayside due to sexual sin and wonder what formative year trauma they may have suffered..
Is it true that it could happen to anyone? Wasn't he a predator? Isn't there a difference b/n 'falling into sin' vs preying on vulnerable women?
BIBLE BELIEVERS LIVE BY THE SWORD. They say United States of America is a Christian nation, THAT IS A LIE. What kind of Christians go out and fight/live by the sword In the name of Jesus? This country is built off the lust of the flesh. The devil was the one that built it.
Bible believers do NOT want Jesus as king, they want kings that will live by the sword. When you vote for somebody that person represents you. You elected a king to rule over you. So when that king sends a bunch of missile's overseas and kills a bunch of people and other bible believers, who gave that king power to do so? The person that voted for him. You wanted him to do your own will after the flesh. You people wanted a king that would live by the sword. You will be held accountable for the murders you help created. You bible/thugs wanted safety and security fleshly devil.
Today all Bible believers do is destroy each other because of the lust of their flesh. They destroyed the world, they helped destroy people's souls, they helped send people into hell. They truly belong to the serpent seed.

I was searching for truth when Jesus told me, "The bible is an idol" which completely changed my direction. After that I only sought for Him in the Spirit and He has taught me many things on life's journey.
The most important of which is that He died so we could be regenerated by the Holy Spirit into sons and daughters of God.
The gospel is simple, repent from living after the flesh, ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit and then be led and controlled by Him through the Spirit.
The bible is only history and has absolutely no authority from God to control us, the outward law was under the old covenant. Jesus died to redeem us from the curse of the written law because we were unable to keep it.

When Jesus words are written down and Satan is using them, then the bible becomes the word of Satan.

As a Christian I have failed probably in ways I don't even know. Our sin nature is so deep and deceptive that we seem to be able to justify anything. What happened is a warning to us all. I have read East to West and believe that Ravi is with the Lord.
All of us have our own "hidden scandals" in life (all fall short in the Glory of God) that only God knows… the difference to some is that their hidden scandals were UNCOVERED… So let us not judge one another and pray for them… as the saying goes, "Do not judge if you are not the Judge (God)."… Amen.
Matthew 23:3/paraphrase… Listen, follow and obey what the teachers/pastors/rabbis/priests say/tell to you, but do not imitate or copy them for they do not practice what they preached… Amen.

Ravi Zacharias sad and hypocritical life is a reminder to all in ministry. It is possible to be effective and win many, yet in the end, hear the words of our Lord say, "Depart from me, l never knew you."

The thing that troubles me in all of this is the question in my mind, how is the internal life of a non-believer, who really wants to live a moral life, different from a true Spirit-filled believer? I believe there is wisdom in all that was said in this video, but at the same time, I could imagine two Islamic clerics, or Mormons, or Orthodox Jews having similar sentiments and rules for life. I'm having a hard time nailing down, what exactly is this empowerment of the Holy Spirit that gives us the strength to live holy; what does it look and feel like; how is the believer's internal life differentiated from the man trying very hard to live virtuously by the power of the flesh?

Well it was Sad to hear about what he did. I was abused , my heart and prayers go out to his family and him. Ravi was a great teacher and what he taught was right and coherent and I listens to his lectures still. We all sin and probably a contributing factor was the pain he lived in. Not excusing what he did, but as one who lives in the kind of pain he did, I can understand it. Addiction comes in many forms as does Sin and the devil will attack you in your weakest point. He does not come at you at your strong points. We all are sinners and we all live double lives and we have secrets. In orthodoxy we have confessors and spiritual fathers no matter who we are. Who did Ravi have? He got attacked and in the current Protestant set ups there becomes a cult of personality easily. Even Billy Graham who was also a 33 degree freemason! I was raised in such a family and what they believe and what some of these people do is far from Godly, evil rituals and all. No one said anything about that. In the Orthodox Church a person would be excommunicated instantly. I like Billy Graham’s sermons, but no one held him accountable for being a Freemason. If you’re comparing sins freemasonry ranks right up there. Ravi though Ed a great teacher in spite of problems. A little problem with the conversation it reminds me of the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector, and the Pharisee is saying thank God I am not a sinner like that guy. Having accountability and checks are good but don’t brag about it please. We you included are sinners, Ravi’s was sexual sin but maybe yours is Pride? I agree it is the message not the messenger. I think you guy are good, but I have to ask you why did you not call out Billy Graham for being a Freemason?
