Following the journey of the song through the first four times we ever played it live, from studio to arena— There is a parallel to be found within the narrative of seasons and days, the constant-unpredictibility of life, and the unchanging, unfailing nature of God and His faithfulness — and what singing His praises unlocks in us. In this journey, the song serves as the constant and honest-confession within us, as the environment and atmosphere changes like the seasons come-and-go around us.

Even When it Hurts is a Praise Song – not exactly in the new-traditional happy-clappy-Sunday-morning sense — no, this is the kind written to sound its loudest in the cold-lonely-silence of the darkest night, or the heart-drenched-desperation of the heaviest of tears. It’s a song that finds it’s voice in the moments and seasons where to all common sense and logic, to sing, and be thankful for anything at all, let alone sing a song of praise to God, makes no sense at all – when the fight seems lost and all strength gone with it – when it’s hard to even find the words — louder then, this is that kind of praise song.

  4. This has always been my redemption song. I'm currently having my anxiety for the upcoming board exams. I know personally, I can never pass that exam. But with God's grace and plans (with perseverance), I will. CPA by 2022 ❤️ (In God's grace)

  6. I recently went for my visa interview and got denied after weeks of prayers, fasting and preparation.
    I thought i was getting a ray of hope after some tough hard years. I thought it was gonna be my breath of fresh air, but i lost it.
    My heart keeps recounting my failures and mistakes.
    It's a struggle to pray now. It's been so tough for the past 2years.

    It hurts yet again, but I'll praise you..
    It doesn't make any sense but I'll praise you 🥲🥲

  20. My heart feels so crowded right now. Whenever I feel tight, I listen to this song. This is the first time I ever commented in their videos. It feels so different right now. My anxiety kicks in. But as the song said, even when it hurts I will praise Him. 🥲

  28. I never comment on videos…but lately I have been battling feelings of inadequacy and the worst part is I always act as if I don't care …lost my best friend and sibling 2 years ago and I have been dealing with complicated grief…Pray for me!

  42. I’m at one of the lowest times in my life and all I ask is for a little bit of grace and mercy. Just a little. I don’t ask for much… Jesus you know everything. My deepest everything. Please listen. I sit here knowing that I’ve really messed up. You know Jesus. Every time I hear this music. It’s like a breath of fresh air. Worship music. Tears drip down my face. Knowing that I will only sing your praise.
